Advancing Hydrogen-Driven Efficiency
Tripod Crest is testing a bold new approach to fuel efficiency and emissions reduction, on-demand hydrogen generation, built directly into heavy-duty fleet vehicles.
For over 40 years, we’ve delivered essential infrastructure with care. We invest in cleaner plant, reduce emissions, and find practical ways to lower our impact without compromising performance.
At Tripod Crest, innovation isn’t a side project. It’s part of how we work. We regularly review new tools, machinery, technologies and fuels to reduce emissions, improve efficiency, and deliver better outcomes for our clients. Today, 90% of our company vehicles are electric, and the remaining are hybrid, part of our ongoing commitment to smarter, cleaner operations.
From trialling hydrogen supplementation and fuel restructuring to introducing electric pavers, rollers, and vehicles, we explore smarter ways of working that lower cost, cut carbon and protect uptime. We also test long-life lubricant systems to extend service intervals and reduce waste in our workshop.
These aren’t one-off initiatives. We embed innovation across our operations, working with suppliers, customers, and industry bodies to drive progress that’s practical, measurable, and designed to make a real difference on site.
We follow a structured Carbon Reduction Plan and have partnered with Go Climate Positive to accelerate progress.
Our targets align with client climate challenge goals and the government’s plan to achieve Net Zero by 2050, focusing on measurable reductions, smarter processes, and operational changes that make a real impact.

Tripod Crest has adopted a smarter, more sustainable tyre strategy across its HGV fleet, designed not only to reduce costs, but to cut carbon, extend asset life, and improve operational efficiency.
With one of the most diverse fleets in the sector, from road planers and pavers to vans, HGVs, and surfacing plant, Tripod Crest needed a diagnostics solution that could keep pace. The goal? To bring everything under one platform and reduce the time and cost of fault-finding across the fleet.
We use digital platforms to support paperless working, reduce admin, track progress, and give clients live updates on programme delivery.
Fleet upgrades include low-emission engines and electric-powered support vehicles, maintained in-house to maximise uptime and reduce impact.
Dust, noise, and disruption are minimised. We use modern methods to protect sensitive environments and local communities.
We reuse planings, schedule efficiently, and source locally to cut transport miles and material waste, without compromising on quality.
Fatigue management, health screening, and inclusive site practices ensure that sustainability starts with our people.
We actively test new tools, machinery, fuels and materials to cut carbon and improve performance. From hydrogen-powered low loaders to smarter surfacing methods, every trial brings us closer to cleaner, more efficient delivery.
